My son found what he thinks may be dermestid (museum beetle) shed skins in his 12-string Laravee case (~20-year old guitar and case). He cleaned them out, so I cannot get a sample unless he gets a recurrence. Dermestids eat dead animal material. Does anyone know if Laravee used animal glues for the guitar or case? Has anyone seen other insects inhabiting an otherwise clean case? Thanks. |

There are several similar beetles that eat wood. Carefully inspect the guitar inside and out for small (2mm) round entry holes. A single entry hole can be the only outward sign of substantial damage. |

Maybe they were just roach remains? |
