I do have one question that I would like help on ... Notice that the bridge is closer to the back of the body and leans back a little . I wondered if I could cut off first fret , change 12th fret and bridge accordingly and have a working shorter scale . Sounds to easy, so my gut says no, that the fret spacing wouldnt be correct anymore .

Please stop in and look at sitch and if you have experience , please comment ... advice needed idunno

Fret spacing will be fine doing that.

So understand that the body is not yet closed? If not, the move in bridge position should not be that big a deal, assuming your 12th becomes your 11th, etc. Otherwise, the shift of the bridge towards the nut could be a problem with bridge plate, etc.

Adjustable ( Mandolin ) bridge and tail piece
