I'm almost done rebuilding my old Gibson J50 that I bought new back in 69 I think. I never had a case for it and it looks so good now that I have to get one for it. Since they don't make these anymore, will I have to get a custom case or is there a similar shaped guitar case out there?

Shouldn't it just drop into a j45 case?

J50 is a natural finished J45 ... it will also fit into a TKL dread case ... your local Gibson dealer can probably get you a real Gibson branded J45 case as well ...

J45 case it is.
Thank you very much guys. I guess I'll be going to my local guitar center. They have one in stock that I can try.

You're absolutely right. I should have just tried it. I put it in my D28 case this morning and it fits perfect.

I was a little hasty on that "perfect fit". I'ts actually to tight when I close the lid. I can close it but it needs to be forced. I'm going to try a J45 case on my lunch break. This J50 is 5" deep. What is the normal dread depth?
