I am so freekin chapped , where is my beer ! [headinwall] [headinwall]

Started tapping in the frets on my fingerboard that has the purpleheart inlays and been sanded to a 320g and buffed to a nice shine . I got all the way to the last 3 and the board split lengthwise about half way down .

I'll add that to my reasons not to do fingerboard inlays.

You know, Jim, if you were working at 3:00pm on a Friday, this would never have happened.

Man Jim, sounds like this is a rough build for you. :(

But maaan, can anything else go wrong??? laughing6-hehe

Sorry man, hopefully you can get it to work out. If it were me, lotsa LMI white glue, couple clamps, take the rest of the day off, and tomorrow, VOILA!!!

You can fix anything with bondo.

The more things you break or mess up, the less things will break or get messed up on the next one.

I wonder if fretting after the board is on the neck would have prevented that.

Maybe , but i was up over the body area when it split 3 frets from where the sound hole would be.

Actually I think my mistake was I made the inlays to big They are about 090 thick and if you follow the wite line ive drawn on the pic you can see it split right down the inlay line . I weakened the board to much apparently

Cool,
Now instead of cumbersome artsy fartsy position markers, you can just label the frets with a sharpie!

So this will go against popular opinion for sure ... but Wud I don't see why you can't glue that puppy back together, then glue it down to the neck. The fretboard wood looks dark so I doubt you'd ever see the repair. With all the lateral surface area of the fretboard to the neck, I doubt it will go anywhere.

I am actually going to try and save it . Will let you know how things go.
