Post subject:  Tonewood suppliers between Washington and Kansas

We'll be on a road trip from Washington to Kansas next week. Does anybody know of tonewood suppliers along the way ? We'll be driving through the Idaho panhandle, Montana, Nebraska, then Kansas.

Thanks,

Pat

Pat:

I does not look like you are heading west but if you are in North-Western Washington there is Pacific Rim Tonewoods. They are a major supplier of top woods but also have back and side woods.

Pat,
It might be a bit out of the way, but there is Rocky Mountain Tonewood near Denver, CO

Be safe.

We have all the Osage Orange (also known by other names) you could ever want right here in Kansas.
Bring your chainsaw. It will have a unique tone when cutting the dry hedgewood.
Would that qualify as "tonewood". :D

Thanks for the info, gentlemen.

George, yes it's unfortunate, that Pacific Rim is too far west for this trip, but I might get over that way in the fall.

Chuck, Rocky Mountain looks like a good source, but they seem to only sell violin-family top woods, and I can't resaw. :(

Nelson, Osage Orange sure does qualify. I have a few sets myself, courtesy of BobC. Bring a chainsaw, hmmm.....

Man, I wish Hibdon was just a bit closer to KC.

Pat - You could say: "Whoops, Honey, I just missed the Kansas City exit.... I guess we'll have to turn around in St. Louis!"

Think that might work? laughing6-hehe
