Hiya gang!
Been a while since I've posted anything, thought I'd show the headstock inlay I've been working on lately, just got it Zpoxy'd here. I think I'll use this design again, but with more conrasting woods next time...the effect here is a little subtle with the similar wood tones, which works for the guitar it's going on. Other than my logo, this is the first serious inly I've tackled.....tedious but rewarding work! Thanks for looking.

You have obviously creative experience in the arts & crafts!

Like the inlay, stunning, but not too in-yer-face in terms of tone.

I sincerely hope that tiger's eye won't be concealed by the tuners.

It will be a shame to put tuners on it!!

Thanks for the comments, all! I recently viewed a bunch of Judy Threet's work online, kinda got inspired to try a larger headstock inlay. She does some awesome work!

The tuners will not cover up the eye...it's a squeaker, though!

The guitar itself is quilted sapele, which I also used on the very top of this headstock. The lighter portion of the tiger was some kind of burl (a myrtle, I believe) that I got from Tim at Aussie Tonewoods a while back, the darker stripes are Hondo RW. Funny, but cutting was tricky with the grain on the Hondo, where the swirly burl was very forgiving.

Fun stuff!

Nice inlay work Jon! How thick is the wood you used for the Tiger?
Did you inlay each piece individually, or build it as a kind of jigsaw in one piece then glue it onto the headstock?

Thanks, Dave! I pre-assembled as a jigsaw puzzle, keeping the lighter part intact as one piece and inlaying the darker stripes. Before gluing to the headstock and sanding, the wood was around .090" or so.
