Some of you know that John Watkins and http://www.cncguitarparts.com has completed their move and is back up and running. For those who don't know about CNCguitarparts you should check out their site and all of the very cool offerings that they have. Everything from custom necks at off-the-shelf prices to bridges, unique Luthier tools, fret boards and much more. I have been a very happy customer of John's for several years now and thrilled that his new and much larger operation is back on line. In addition, CNCguitarparts has a weekly newsletter that they will email to you when you sign-up to receive it. This weeks special is John's very cool fret board gluing caul. I have one of these and posted pics prior when I used it to epoxy a fret board onto a neck. I highly recommend this caul in as much as it works perfectly and this week it is on sale too...... ![]() Check it out and be sure to visit John's site and sign-up for the newsletter. I really like the site design; Simple, clean and very easy to navigate. My order shipped the same day and arrived the next. |

48...at least you count all your strokes. John's actually not that bad. My advice to you...don't bet with him unless you get strokes! |

Yep John went at this big time and moved to a dedicated manufacturing facility and I think that he now has 3 CNC rigs running. He also hired Charlie who has had professional and formal Lutherie training. And of course for those who have been on the forum for a while we know that John is a very talented Luthier himself having built many guitars. This means that he understands the considerations that we have with our own building goals. John's product line is expanding and I know that he will be offering some new and very cool things in the near future and always at reasonable prices. One of the coolest things that John offers are his necks which are excellent in quality and very nearly finish sanded when you get them. The faux bound fret boards are superbly made as well and John has now integrated his necks and fret boards so that they come with registration dots built into them that make perfect alignments and glue-ups a breeze. He will also do your logos and inlay them in the head plates AND even install your logos and head plates on his necks and cut the peg head to your specs. What you receive is a completely built neck that all you have to do is glue on the fret board. Being the rather poor planner that I am one of the many things that I appreciate about CNCGuitarparts.com is that many of the offerings are available off-the-shelf and there is no waiting for what you might need. Another thing that I appreciate is that I have had John use my BRW to do some things for me in the past and since he is in the US there is nothing potentially illegal in shipping BRW to and from John. I am getting together a batch of bridge blanks today to send to John so he can make me another batch of bridges. |
