+3 on the GS Mini. Purchased or home-built they sound and play like a full size. Certainly under your 1k budget

Another option is a size 0 14 fret. I'm not sure of any factory built that would be under 1k though.....you'd have to build it

Thanks for the link. Who did you get to actually print the plans for you? There's a Kinko's and an Office Max in my neighborhood, but the site people seem to prefer an architectural printing firm.
