My guitar workshop is in the basement and had a couple of inches of standing water in it this morning at 8:00. I had thought ahead and nothing was on the floor, so other than moving a couple of new guitars just back from finish upstairs for a couple of days, and some wet workbench legs, all is well.

Glad it wasn't worse.

Chris.

Glad to hear everyone is safe , been there with flooded basements , can be a major pain . Hope all works out well .

Last ive heard the death toll is above 20 from florida all the way up . Its sad that any have lost their lives and our thoughts go out to those familys .

Are there any others in Luthier Land who have been affected we havent heard from , or any further updates on those we have heard from?

I am fine here, some water in the base ment, took a ride yesterday afternnon, many homes submerged, I got several cals from friends and relatives yesterday , all most every water spanning bridge in the area has been closed down , some towns have no roadway in or out (as of last night ) ie cornwall, washingtonville , mountainville. I am sure there are more. my brother and his girl were stuck in mountainville with no pwer and unable to leave as the streams were raging over both bridges of egress. the wallkill river was expected to crest at 18.5" flooding is at 12" .. the N Y state thruway was closed for 130 miles yersterday as well as route 17 . I set up my portable generator.. but never needed to use it as I only lost power for awhile saturday night while I was asleep . thank the Lord! jody

No power but I have a generator. I lost one tree which was away from everything so no damage, just clean up to look forward to. I had to go to work just to get internet access. Doing fine in RI.

A tree crushed my new Audi, and I lost 9 trees... two just missing my house. Everyone is fine, however.

Okay, we just shut down the generator after 48+ hours off the grid. R.H was up to 50% in the shop with my dehumidifier running double time.
Lots of trees down, flooding, etc. but all is well here in North Jersey now.

Thanks for the thoughts Big Jim

I'm tucked into a hollow between Germantown and Newark. Most of the wind blew over top of us, and the rain was less than I expected. I took a few extra precautions that may not have been needed, but better safe than sorry. Hopefully this won't be the storm that cried "Wolf!" I'm sure we have a few more storms to weather this season, and this may not be the worst.
The power blinked off for a couple of hours overnight, and we lost phone and internet for a day, but overall little damage was seen.

Such a sad sitaution , in this we always hope that the news will be positive no matter what , sadly it never is . It helps us to appreciate how quickly things can go wrong . Our hearts and thoughts go out to those who have lost so much in this .

Those who are all ok , please take some time and think about those who are not !

Power's still out - a neighbor's kindness in letting me piggyback on his generator means my sump pump is functioning well and our freezer is staying cold.

No damage at all. We were so well-prepared in advance of the storm that even the relatively minor flooding we got in the basement didn't ruin anything.

We were very lucky, and now we're just anxiously awaiting the return of power.

It takes a while for these things to sort out and reveal all the consequences ...

We just found out that one of our 2009 graduates and a buddy of his drowned in one of the local streams while trying to walk 2 miles home Saturday night in the middle of the storm.

Smart thing to do - no!
Tragic anyway? - yes.

So incongruous, given that we are in the midst of enjoying what is far and away our best weather of the entire summer right now, and enjoying the fact that I only had to pick up a few dead twigs.

ran 17" of water through the bottom half of a grizzly widebelt sander, had motors submerged on my dust collector and a few other tools. pulled the motors, took off the covers and soaked with WD40, now letting everything dry out. hopefully no damage. could have canoed around my house without my paddle touching ground. got power and water back yesterday. everyone OK.

Lost power on Sunday morning at 11, got it back Tuesday evening at 8:30. Lost a few roof shingles and a lot of small dead branches from our swamp maple tree. Lost most of our food in the fridge/freezer. Could have been worse. No flooding in the basement. However, I hear that Vermont and parts of upstate NY got hit very bad. There was a town in Vermont that was entirely washed away, and similar story near Schenectady NY.

Well if it's anything like living in Florida you all might have your homeowners insurance double next year. Even if you didn't have a claim.
