Pat, Ron, thanks M8's!
Don.....dang!
No offense taken at all. I'm flattered that you're looking that closely.
Not sure where that came from; I'm pretty sure it didn't leave here that way, but who knows?
I'm hoping it will be viewed as a "beauty mark"..... gaah

I remember this from the GAL convention and a second guitar, a 12 string IIRC, that was equally striking. I recall they played quite nicely too.

Super nice guitar Steve! The bocote bindings really look nice with the Limba.
Man you are so good at matching woods. Let me add that the back strip is
a very neat idea and looks great. Nice cutaway too. WoW !

Hi Dave, thanks amigo! I appreciate the nod toward the cutaway.
I sweat bullets over that one. Black Limba was, to me, a chore to bend, and it had to be thinned quite a bit in the cutaway area.

Which reminds me I missed Mike's Q. re specs. (Sorry Mike)
Back thickness ended up in the .100" range, and sorry that's as close as I can remember. Sides started at .085, and were taken down thinner. Cutaway area went down to .060. Afterwards that thinned area is reinforced w/ a fancy veneer.
Top (which exact stats are up in the shop) was about .105, before final sanding and perimeter thinning. This what you were thinking, Mike?

Hey thanks, Michael!
By the way, how long you gonna be "gone fishing"?
(Sounds great, however long. I'd love to go!)

Glad to see you're turning out the usual junk! Sorry, I had to be different.

Seriously, it is a beautiful guitar. Evan Gluck and I were fortunate enough to hear it at the GAL steel string listening session, and we both aggreed that the two best sounding guitars were Steve Kinnaird's and Steve Grimes; pretty good company. My hat's off to you and Ryan (Steve's assistant).

Close? You're there my fine fellow! Outstanding job all around.

IMO all it takes for the wood to "speak" is for the artist to slow down enough, and clear the mind enough, that things like this reveal themselves. It is not often that the wood will shout at you...it tends to whisper.

Well done! [:Y:]

Hey Matt, thanks bro. I'll tell Ryan that you're going hatless.

Erik, I really appreciate the kind remark, though getting into James Krenov's league will take more than one center seam!
I'm still trying to hear that "still small voice".
In more ways than one. ;)
