Ok, doofus question, what is the difference between steel string and nylon string tuners for slot head?
Or is there any? Are they interchangeable?

Thanks
B

Nylon string tuners generally have larger barrels. That is due to the fact that they stretch a lot more than steel strings.

The old guitars designed for gut strings often had smaller rollers. Gut doesn't stretch as much as nylon, but more than steel.

Classical guitar tuners have softer larger rollers, treble steel strings eat them up. The treble classical strings stretch and stretch the small diameter steel string rollers would be a pain tuning wise.
