I decided to post pictures of my current build, an interesting OM made of Ebony back and sides and purpleheart bindings/purflings that I am making myself so that the shades will all match.

I'm braced for the ensuing mocking, criticism, and insults to my methodology, but maybe a few of you will enjoy the pictures and eventually the final result....

It's going to have a bound sideport, and possibly a bound bridge as well, but I haven't made my mind up on the bridge yet.

Hmm, maybe a pyramid bridge. I like thin bridge wings though.

Thanx!
What are your thoughts on pyramid vs flat wings?

Hmm.
I'll see if I'm creative enough.
Thanx!

Come on Charles! Nobody on this forum mocks, criticizes or insults a builder's methodology. Only their looks. To that end, I have included a drawing I made of you so that people can focus on mocking your looks since your guitar building leaves little, if anything, to poke fun at.

The guitar looks great, especially the rosette. I wonder if it will be heavy once it is complete. Are you thinning the back and sides a lot to compensate for the weight?

Thanx Tony!
Where'd you get that photo, I don't remember you taking it!
The back is .095 and the sides are .080, so a little thinner than I usually go but i seems to have made a big difference in the weight.
I'm debating on whether or not I should have Birko cut out an "S" made of purpleheart and ebony or use up the last of My MOP "S"'s.
Guess we'll see......

Cool rosette. I'm not seeing any targets to hurl insults so far

Did you see the picture of him that I posted? He looks like a young Rick Ruben.

Charles, Go with the ebony and purple heart. It will match the rest of the guitar. Of course, purple heart doesn't stay purple, so it will eventually be brown heart and ebony, but it will still look good.

Actually, this purpleheart seems to get more and more vibrant as it ages, no sign of brown yet and I've had it for YEARS. I'm hoping that under the laquer and in the case it will stay nice and purple or years to come.

But I'm sure eventually it will brown out. :(

I probably will go with the ebony and purpleheart S, but I'm just impatient. I have to send the material to him so it'll match and then he'll need time to configure the CNC for a wooden "S". But indeed that will be the best option.

You are wise to agree with me because I am wise.
