Greetings,
No matter how careful I am I don't think I've ever cleaned up a guitar after a nitro finish that I have not had a few little finish lifts along the fretboard edge, nut slot, or tuner holes. (Especially a slothead)
A way to deliver butyl cellusolve to the precise area needed that has worked very well for me is to use a small syringe with a bent 25G needle (or smaller).
Carefully raise a small bead on the tip of the bevel of the needle and touch it to the edge of the raised area. It usually wicks in quickly and takes care of things nicely. if it's a bigger area it might need a light sanding and rebuff. The bent needle and the bevel on the end makes positioning pretty accurate so it only goes where it's needed.
Terry
