I was not sure where to start this, so I have put it in the Main Discussion Forum. I thought I would share a couple pictures of my latest guitars. The design is the evolution of all of the plans that I have drawn and built over the years. There are 2 versions.
The Standard...this is a Sitka top with bubinga back and sides

I apologize for the quality of the photos, but it gives you an idea of where I am at.
I build free style...without forms and on a work board. Everything I do is still pretty old school, from bending by hand and with a fox style bender with light bulbs to using tentalonis to attach the top to the sides.
The scale length on these is 25.5 inchers. The lower bout is 15 1/4.
As you can probably tell, I like simplicity...probably out of necessity...I have tried several fancy inlays with varying degrees of success. I can build a beautiful guitar that feels great in your hands and sounds wonderful.
I am not a full time builder. I have built 3 in the last 18 months. I am a sales manager for a radio station who is a guitar and music addict. Each guitar is better than the last, and that is all I can hope for. One day I will build a guitar as nice as some of the stuff I see here on the forum...I am blown away by many of you here!!!

The Bubinga is stunning. The finish really makes it pop. I also really like your cutaway guitar. It loosk very cool and the lines really flow well in my opinion. Do you have a name for that kind of cutaway? I've never seen it before.

Yes I am...I have been member over there since the beginning. I just started poking around here a week or so a go, and am awed by the work of some of the people here...and it's nice to see some of the people from that forum here as well.

I am a traditional french polish guy. I love the process. I don't wanna get all zen on your ass, but it is very theraputic just rubbing away for an hour at a time. It's a great way to get lost for a while. I am more of a single malt kinda guy, but that crown royal bag is great for storing interesting pieces of wood, walrus ivory, shell and what ever little things that seem to show up in the shop.

I drew that cut away plan the first time in about 1997. Once I stumbled on to it, it was mine. The 2 guitars I have posted are what has evolved into what is a Gilmore Guitar. I really like the smaller bodys and I really like curves. I have drawn and built many different shapes, and this is where I have ended up style wise. They are great finger pickers, but they have the ability to rock with a pick.

I am interested in the swaps that go on here as well...hopefully I will be able to take advantage of sales that go on.

That's nice clean work David, well done! The cutaway is an interesting shape, looks like it still balances well on the knee though.

It's too bad you had to give up that Pink Floyd gig, but lutherie is not a bad substitute for filling stadiums.

(bet that's the first time you've heard THAT...)

Roger was being a large pain in my butt over the whole name thing so we just...well.... you know the story I am by the way a huge David Gilmour fan. He can say more with one note than most can with 10 or 20. I remember as a kid my mom bought me an album because she thought it was cool that there was this guy who had the same name...turned out it was Gilmours self title album...that's right...I said album...with songs like Mihalous and There's No Way Out...I was about 14 and have been hooked since.

A thumbs up from a builder such as you is a compliment.
That walnut bent like butter. Walnut is one of my favorite woods to build with. The binding is cocobola. That stuff is nice too, but I can no longer use it, as I have an allergy to it. I built a couple guitars out of it several years ago and some nasty stuff happened to me....story for another thread...This binding was left over from those builds. They set that walnut off beautifully.

Those are very pretty. The cutaway struck me as somewhat ... Turner-esque at first! I do like it (and his guitars as well).
I love my one factory walnut guitar (a Larrivee parlor), and am working on a walnut OM (endlessly!)

I'm sure there are people here who would be glad to take your extra cocobola off your hands! I bind my own guitars that way.
