I didn't want to leave without saying goodbye to some of my friends who remain here on the OLF. I made it just over 20 years and I'm told that I helped a lot of people. That was my intent and my goal.

Untrue to form I wanted to keep this short so that is intentionally what I will do.

Good luck to you all.

Hesh

Au revoir, and I wish you fair winds and following seas my friend.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Sorry to hear your decision to part ways with the OLF Hesh my friend.

Whether I agreed with, or adhere to, every one of your 13,700+ posts here or not -- I always appreciated your honesty, straight forward constructive criticism and willingness to help others.

Some of your tutorial posts were well worth printing and saving, offering detail few here have matched in content or in the time spent preparing them.

So, you will be missed here Hesh, and thanks for your years of contributions.

Our friendship doesn't end here, you'll hear from me pardner.

Take care,
Brian R

Absolutely agreed.

I was thinking of you several times this week as I searched for the right "tink" on a bunch of guitars my friend was showing me, and also some of my own.

I hope you and Dave may someday offer more educational content such as more classes and/or setup videos, maybe through Robbie Obrien's site.

All the best to you!

Leo

John, shouldn't you stick around to make sure ASIA has a presence here?

I check in here at the OLF once every few months but don't post anymore ... and just checked in to see you're leaving. I hope everything is ok (ie not leaving due to poor health or whatnot). I remember being very impressed with your fretting process/description and adopted much of it in my own process. So thank you for that !!!! You've given a lot of time, effort, and love to the OLF community and I'm sure it is appreciated and that you will be missed.

I wish you all the best !!!!
