My brother has to step sons that are in a group called Papadosio. This seems to be a description of their work:

"Falling somewhere between rock, jazz and electronic mayhem we find space rock."

Lots of psychedelic lighting and long pieces of music. They have a very faithful following and they manage to fill stadiums. Their fans are just as "space rocky" as they are and here is an instrument that one of them showed to the band.

They were told it is wood burning on a Martin - what model of Martin is this?? Looks like it might have thinned the top in a few places, as well as torrified it. Maybe you could fix it with a burst.

Ed

Label says it's a DM.

Looking at the top, I doubt it was pyrography. You cannot find the original grain anywhere beyond the rosette even in the lightest sections. I think it was done with acrylics. That would account for the texture as well.

Interesting art piece. Given current finish/finishing topics on the OLF, I’m betting it’s a tone killer. I do like it though.

Giving Papadosio a go on Spotify.

What ever it is I think it's cool in the right setting. Not for me but I appreciate it. Papadosio is a good band too.

I would guess that it is a vinyl wrap, like they put on cars.

It's pyrography. Seen the guitar on facebook, dubbed "Synaptic Mycelium" by Sacred Fire Arts.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
