Just finished up this Tenor Uke.

Details:
- Blackheart Sassafras back and sides
- Torrefied Sitka Spruce top
- Torrefied Sitka bracing
- Blackheart Sassafras Rosette
- Ebony binding and end graft
- Spruce laminated solid linings
- Gotoh tuners
- Side sound port
- French polish finish

I learned quite a bit on this build. A fair amount of experimentation. First time using solid linings. First time working with a Torrefied top and bracing. First time trying French Polish.

Lots improved from the last one, lots to improve upon for the next one!

That's a nice looking uke. The rosette design looks interesting (in a good way). Do you have a closer shot of it? Do you like how it sounds?

I like the sound. It’s not as bright as the Spruce and Bocote Uke I built, but not as mellow as the Mahogany Uke I finished before this one. It’s louder than both the other ukes and rings for longer. The braces are the same dimensions as previous builds but torrefied.

Here is a closeup if the Rosette before finish. It’s a blackheart Sassafras knife scale that I resawed, flipped on its end, and glued it up. I’m somewhat landing on this Rosette design for ukes where I use basic cutoffs of ebony binding and pieces of white fiber board to create the divider.

Thanks for the feedback.

Very nice, clean, Brad.
I hope that's spruce laminated solid kerfing...

Thanks! It is indeed.

I’m working on a cocobolo Uke now that will have quartered white oak solid lining. I wanted something that would bend reliably at 140. White oak was recommended and did indeed bend quite nicely at that thickness.

Brad

Edit: Just realized the typo. Thanks!
