So I have a pretty unique opportunity in August, I am going to get the chance to get the measurements from a genuine 1958 Gibson Explorer for a replica I am building. What I know so far is that the instrument has a one piece solid White Limba, or Korina, body. The trouble I have been having is finding a single piece oversized body blank for the replica. The dimensions are ideally 1 7/8 in thick x 19 in wide x 24" in long, the bare minimum width being 18 1/4 inches wide. I have emailed Gilmer wood but they haven't responded at all. Anyone here have a one piece White Limba blank of that size they would be willing to sell?

I built a couple flying V's.

The White Limba came from Keim Lumber in Charm, Ohio. You can give them a call but I don't think they have anything that wide. It seems like the widest stuff I saw was about 12" or 13".

FYI Keim is a huge supplier of building materials, trim, hardwood and more and ironically they're Amish, complete with computers, CNC machines, etc.

I would agree with you under other circumstances, but hey, I have the chance to ask questions and get measurements from a original Korina Explorer ;) , I wanna make this as accurate as possible :D

I saw this. Unfortunately, to get the authentic 1958-1959 look to it, it needs to be clear unstreaked white limba. Here is a 1958 Explorer.
