Fell on deaf ears.....

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

As a group, luthiers assume they are on the naughty list, I guess.

I gave a list of low cost guitar making things to my immediate family. We'll see what they pick out.

Unless I fill out a LeeValley purchase slip, my wife just gives me that glassy eyed look that spells trouble! Many of my tool purchases have crossover uses for lutherie and cabinetry, and when I'm buying hundreds of board feet of wood at a time, what's a few pieces of guitar wood for the stash amount to? :D

Probably should have started this earlier. Then sent links to our spouses. I'm gonna put that Mirka Ceros sander on my list next year.

I think my wife has a Stew Mac account that she uses at Christmas. Hmmm, she likes free shipping deals, like Amazon Prime. Maybe next year I can interest her in a StewMax membership.

So far I've got this... Couldn't be happier, I usually never get guitar related presents (they're too expensive...)

My wife said she got me the two small Lie-Neilsen block planes I want But, they are back ordered for 6 to 8 weeks due to Christmas rush.
She doesn't know I saw them at the front door last week.
