This is a pre-WWII Millers Falls #9, a Stanley #4 clone - great tool. The catalog says the wood is cocobola. If the front knob were still in a plank, would it have landscape figure?

It doesn't appear to have any landscape figure, but it has a nice sapwood/heartwood division with what appears to be what we would call an "ink line" in between. Or it's a two-piece block of wood with the two different types of wood. Can't say for sure from this image.
