While this note should by rule be posted in the 'Off Topics' section of the site, I ask for a bit of indulgence from my fellow forum members so that my heart-felt thanks reach as many of our veterans as possible today.

On this Veterans Day, I would like to thank our current and former soldiers, sailors, and airmen, as well as Marines here (I am reliably informed there is no such thing as a 'former' Marine) for more than just their honorable service. In addition to those years spent in uniform, I am ever mindful and grateful for the following:

- Your physical and moral courage, whether under fire or in making what are surely the most difficult of decisions under the most trying of conditions,

- Your fidelity to and willingness to go to extraordinary and heroic lengths to fulfill your oath (or affirmation) to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States of America, and in keeping that solemn promise, defend the great blessings of freedom and liberty both here and around the world,

- Your sacrifice of your own freedoms and liberty while serving, so that I may see mine preserved, and

- The support from and sacrifices made by your family and loved ones.

I could go on, but I hope that I have made the point that my gratitude extends far beyond the number of the days, the months, or the years of your service.

Thank you.

Thank you. USAF 1975-76, Crew Chief, phase inspection on F-111's. Only Congress[ the Peoples representation] can declare war. Lets hold public servants accountable and not let the go to war or conflict seem so easy.
