Is it possible to use a buffing wheel or micro mesh abrasives on a French polish finish to get that ultimate high gloss, or is the finish too soft? I'm pretty happy with my finish overall, it's just those tight areas along the fret board and neck to body joint where I need extra shine. Don't say more elbow grease, cause my method is "polish till your shoulder falls off and then keep going".

I use micro mesh 2400-8000 after letting shellac cure for a few days.....see no need for 12000, but that's just me...

Really, I am trying to work up the skill of that last alcohol/shellac/oil ratio used with a big loose pad to get the gloss by hand, but....
I find it best to let it hang a few weeks before abrasives are applied, otherwise it will cut too fast.

I've used a buffing wheel on shellac as well. Just be judicious and use a light touch.
