I whittled out this Flying-V for my daughter. Chinaberry body, Maple neck and top, Lacewood pickguard.
My daughter wanted it red and purple, so I cringed and fullfilled her wish.

Hello, just joined, and thought I'd share my first build. I actually built this back in the mid 90's. I had no real idea what I was doing, and there really wasn't an internet. I had one luthier/repair tech that gave me some key guidance, other than that it was me a band saw, a couple rasp, and a few files, with my father helping on things like setting the neck, which is a dovetail joint, and routing for electronics.. The body is mahogany, top flamed maple, and a two piece swamp ash neck. The fretboard is off an old friends broken '60's SG. I originally had stained it similar to how it is now, but had adone a terrible job as I had no idea what I was doing. When our band went on tour in 98' I decided to give it the black spray paint job, and that's how it's been until last month when the shame of that maple top being hidden under nasty rattlecan got to be too much. I took it apart, and went to town with paint stripper, sand paper and a sander. I managed to get out most of hte dings from years of abuse, and found a nice green stain for the top, and a Minwax Gunstock 231 for the body and neck.
