Maybe one of you glue gurus can hlep me. I grew some Persian Cucumbers. Yesterday I harvested some. I gathered them up and the juice from the stems spotted my shirt in about 15 places. Within a few minutes, I put the shirt in water. Then I took it out and applied a prespot and washed it in the washing machine. The shirt then dried with the spots still there, and the spots are hard like glue. So, what is this and how do I get it out?

I think you got the cucumbers a bit too "excited" when you were handling them if you know what I mean!

You got some Persians a little too excited?

Usually water and detergent washes them off without a trace, try hot water or something if cold doesn't work.

Now that gives me an idea, could experiment with different animals for glue... maybe Persian cat.

Obviously, your problem is cucumber resin... Perhaps you've discovered Stradivarius' secret varnish? Try the usual suspect solvents: turpentine, acetone, alcohol. (not at the same time) One of them is likely to work.

Another idea: throw it in the wash again but with 1/2 cup of borax. This is a nearly miraculous way to get french polish drips out of your clothes. It might work on persian cucumber.

Borax is also good for brazing broken bandsaw blades, killing roaches (mix with a bait such as sugar)...

They used to use them as a food additive in Taiwan, but I believe it's outlawed but I wouldn't be surprised if they still use them.

That happens here in the US, too, albeit unintentionally.

I prefer boric acid though, can do all of above and can be used in pyrotechnic compositions to protect aluminum from reacting with nitrates.
