I built this one for my daughters. I applied the string-to-string distance of standard classical guitars to my design and found out it's too crowded for a ukulele. Lesson learned. Can't help making it like my classical guitar.

i really like the looks of it, specially the head design and fretboard... as for sound, it very sounded nice to my ears, but i don´t know much about ukuleles, except that they were introduced in hawaii by portuguese immigrants... i didn´t even remembered that ukes came with nylon strings... (the portuguese cavaquinho, its ancestor uses steel strings).

Nice little Uke, and it has a compensated nut too.

I built some SE117s for my daughters awhile back, they don't play them...Maybe I should have started with some ukes when they were as young as yours!

Yes...very nice uke, and beautiful player, too. And she seems to be very happy with her new instrument. Another satisfied client!

The head looks rather thick, how is the ballance of it. There are lots of braces. My last concert had one bulkhead brace at the waist.
The sound is impressive. What sort of pickup did you use? I like the tuner layout.

The head is indeed thicker than I'd like, so I'll probably use the smallest Gotoh SS tuner next time. Those fan braces are 3 mm tall, so they're not as stiff as they look like, and probably much lighter than an big bridge pad. The acoustic sound was recorded by the tiny condenser mic of a Canon IXY 20 IS. The model was obsolete but I think later IXYs also record listenable mono sound track @ 44100Hz, 16 bit. There's no pickup. When facing down, this uke balances at 14th fret, and I guess its huge tail block helps. The total weight is 504 gram/17.8 oz. now. Not sure how's that for a concert uke. Those sawed-off tuner are about 100 gram weight.


It's sad to hear that. Can I call you dad? This uke looks right in the little girl's hand, but she doesn't have the LH grip yet. Her elder sister can handle C and F chord now.
