I know this is not the right location for this topic, but I don't care. This is for those who've been at the forum here for 4 years or more......not steping on toes, just getting to the point.

Does anyone know where this book has gone? Please reference the following threads:

Last we know, Larry P had it and sent it on. I know Larry is a great guy and I have no hard feelings at all. I think he's tried his best to remember where the book went, but it's lost in his memory.

So, I'm posting this to see if anyone received the book from Larry and if they can get it on its way.

Thanks.

To clarify...I have the "Clapton Autobiography" book that was (slowly) circulating...NOT the "Clapton Guitar" book in which Wayne Henderson builds a guitar for Clapton.

Two different animals.

Anyone waiting on the Autobiography, send me a PM with address and I'll ship it off.

Hank

I just went thru my PM's and found that I sent "Claptons Guitar" to Coe Franklin
on Nov.28th,2008. Michael McBroom was next but didn't reply back so it went to Coe.

Thanks Dave, I'll send Coe a pm and see if he got it and where it's at.

I did have both books and have sent them off to the next recipient.
I`m sorry to say that I have to run off to my night job, but I`ll be able to give an accurate account on my part by 9:00 AM tommorrow.

Thanks Coe ;)

Once we find it, I'd like to see the list inside and maybe do a revision, not to add more but to maybe remove a few who are no longer participating here....this will also get it home sooner :)

Hey yeah, that book cost Bob and I around $45 Australian to send on to Arnt in Norway (with some freebie wood samples of course ;) )....considering what has happened to the greenback in relation to the Aussie dollar, that makes my investment worth around $296.73US these days...not to worry because Arnt still owes me a sheep's head toffee apple and that's gotta be worth at least that much..isn't that right Arnt

Cheers

45.00 AUD = 47.8160 USD

OK Folks, here`s the scoop (or as much as I can contribute).
I went back through all my PM`s and found out that John Elshaw got it from me.
He recieved it on Dec 29, 2008.
Just where it went from there, I don`t have a clue, as the list had been changed quite a bit by the time I got it.
As of that date, John being in the military, told me that his address was changing everytime he turned around.
I do still have the address that he provided me, but if it`s still valid, I just don`t know.

TAG, John! You`re it!

You are still with us aren`t ya?
Coe Franklin

Boy, it's been a couple years but I do remember reading the book and sending it off to Paul Woolsen way back in early 2009. I don't have access to my home computer as I'm deployed right now, but I am 99% sure I'm remembering correctly.

Cheers!

John

OK...a bit more data on the "Clapton Autobiography" book I have.
It has been signed by Larry Presnall, Dave Higham (with typed comments glued to fly leaf) and Chuck Hutchison in that order. No dates, unfortunately.

So...Who want's it next??? idunno

I know it's a big step, but I emailed Paul myself. This is what he wrote back:

Quote:
Wow, that was a VERY long time ago. By the time I got the book, it had been so long in transit that had checked the same title out from the library and read it. So I remember repacking the book and sending it on right away. However, I can't for the life of me remember who I sent it to. John Cavanah comes to mind but I could very possibly be wrong about that. Good luck finding it. Paul

I had Clapton's Guitar and read it and sent it on. According to the list in the thread referenced in Rod's first post on this topic, I was to send it to Bruce Dickey when I was done and I believe that's who I sent it to. I don't see Larry's name on that list, though, so it might be different from the list that actually came with the book.

There was a revision to the list that I can't find on my computer at all. I emailed the list to Bruce Dickey a couple years ago. I've been in contact with Bruce and he sent it on to Ron Wisdom, who sent it on to Larry Presnell.....so know we have a circle that the book has gone in...

I think Larry was added to the list later. I'm guessing that Larry can't remember where the book went as he had two books he was sending out.... After Larry, the book should have gone to Dave Anderson I think.....but I can't remember either.

OK, so some more digging and at the bottom of this thread http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/view ... +book+list Larry was to send the book onto Andy Zimmerman. I've PM'd Andy back in January of this year. He never did get the book :( so I'm thinking it must have got lost in the post. #*%# !! And with only 10 more people to go (well 7-8 I think as a few have left)

Larry, can you do another look around your place to see if you have the book? Maybe it got buried somewhere.....?

Don't know what else we can do here.

This was the last picture of the book and the book mark I think Criag made.

Rod,

No, it most assuredly departed Mississippi...I have looked high and low for my shipping papers...I was hoping my shop file would be the spot...I will look at my Fed Ex account and see if a forum name pops up...I hate the books missing, and hate more that it appears to have gone missing with me! Again tho, I swear on my honor I passed it along.

I totally trust you Larry, and again I want you to not feel bad, I hold no hard feelings to you at all. I just hope that somehow it can get found. Maybe if the Fed/ex papers show up you can know where it was sent....maybe fed/ex might still have it in limbo......on an Island with Tom Hanks somewhere in the south pacific..... :)

Dave,

Do you remember who sent it to you? I'm asking because I had the Claption bio going around at the same time and had originally told Rod that I thought I sent his book to Dave Higham...in looking back at the thread I see that he got the Clapton bio, but no mention of the Clapton's guitar book...it's a longshot, but I was wondering if I sent the guitar book your way?

Also Rod,

I'm pretty certain that I didn't send the book to Andy...for some reason, "Dave" sticks in my mind although at this point, unless FedEx comes thru with the info I asked them for, I'll never be sure...I'm truly sorry for any part I may have in this thing going awry...I remember packing and mailing it but at the time we had just moved into the new house and things were silly...

Larry, Yes,Hesh sent the book to me but there were about 6 or 7 guys before me so this kind of started the mix up. So,I sent it back to Coe from here. I hope it's not lost in the mail but it's looking like it very well could be! Maybe someone will pop up with it yet. I hope Rod gets to see it with the comments and all since he was the one to start this whole thing .
