It is a jig that helps you route your mortise in the body of the guitar and route the tenon on the neck. The cool thing about it is it helps get the neck angle very close right off the router, and it makes setting the neck much easier.

Thanks Brock, that explains it. I did google about a bit but didn't see a nice clear picture of it, mostly just discussions of folks talking about how great it was. In any case not what I personally was looking for but it sounds like a good rig.

the big red book # 4 page 400 starts a detailed article about a two part neck jig, there is no plan or measurements, but 4 pages of explaination and pictures. I hope this helps Jody

Yeah... you're right.

I switched over to the LuthierTool jig a while back and sort of forgot the particulars ... good catch.

Jon Simpson's jig is a much nicer and a smaller jig then the Woolson that he sales for only $130 and comes with the body morticing jig too.
Why waste your time building the Woolson jig?

Me too, and I guess a slight hi jack. I just set up, routed(neck and body) and fit a dovetail in ~20 minutes.
