Had a vacation day on the books and planned on spending some time in the shop, but our new puppy who is seven week old, is needing a whole lot of attention. So I rented a movie off netflix and watched it in between entertaining and taking the new puppy outside.

The movie was The Red Violin, which came out in 1998. If you haven’t had a chance to see it I would recommend you check it out. It tells the story of a violin from it’s making in Italy to present day, where it is being auctioned off.

Does anyone know of any other movies that have luthery in the story line?

There is a movie about piano making at Steinway that is supposed to be very good.

Yeah, Red Violin is a good one..... taped it back when I was making a violin! Worth a watch!
The Stienway documentary is called Note by Note, also good (just to see the guy chopping out the bridge)!

Un Coeur en Hiver (A Heart in Winter), with Daniel Auteuil and Emmanuelle
Beart. The lutherie aspect is seemingly small but still significant. One of
my favorite films. Early 90's, iirc.
