Good Afternoon,

First- a sincere thank you to anyone who answers this post with any help you can offer, and also, a sincere apology to anyone who is annoyed by my posting this!

My spouse is a guitar enthusiast and a novice guitar maker. I would like to purchase him something for Valentines Day (preferably a gift certificate) to a store or website that he can use in his guitar making endeavors. Any suggestions would be most helpful since I am not sure where to look! I know he purchases a variety of different items from different online websites and stores...

Thank you again for any help you can offer and I wish all of you a wonderful weekend!
:P

If he's a builder, you can't realy go wrong with a gift cert. to either Luthiers Mercantile (http://www.lmii.com/) or Stewart Macdonald (http://www.stewmac.com/)
Other than that, maybe tonewood sponsers at the top of this page.

Is that you, my dear?

LMI offers gift certificate and they have a large selection of tonewoods, tools, and books, so your lucky spouse will most definitely find someting there.

how about this?

Image

(just kidding! seriously, the stewmac.com or lmii.com gift certificate idea could not be more perfect. last year my wife got me a set of pre-bent herringbone purfling from Martin, because she knew I wanted it. it was great! this year I'll probably be getting an oven mitt or a broom.)

Hi Honey!

I sure do love you!

Please, please, please do not open the little package from "DeBeers" that is coming. No, it's not a home brewing kit, but you'll have to wait until Valentines Day to find out!

You're the best wife a man could ever have, and I thank God for you!

Your hubby,

Dennis
p.s. The very first suggestion is a good one, and I guarantee that I can always find lutherie stuff I need and/or want at those places. :D

I agree with all the suggestions. You can't go wrong with those two suppliers, especially given their breadth of product. Either one will certainly have something that your husband needs desperately

As for being annoyed by the post, not at all. As a matter of fact, perhaps you wouldn't mind calling my wife and giving her a suggestion to do something in kind.......? :P

Well let's see... when I started building guitars and I had a girlfriend at the time I soon determined that something that I could really, really use was a new, very comfortable sofa that was excellent to sleep on..... :D Alone..... :D Banished to the sofa for spending too much money on pretty wood..... :? gaah [headinwall]

You know you could get him something that you could do together meaning both of you would enjoy it. At the top of this page are a couple of ads for some upcoming guitar shows/festivals - perhaps book some flights and get a room in sunny Florida while you attend a guitar show?

Good on you for asking too! [:Y:]

Hey Dave,

I could send you mine! The only issue is that mine has the same interest level as yours. Other than that, she's GREAT!! Ah, I better keep her for myself!

Rather than stuff, you could buy him knowledge.
Anything of these would be nice.

Guys don't be naive. Just because you don't think she knows something doesn't mean that she doesn't. If she doesn't want you to know she's been clued in, you won't know. Especially if she wants to surprise you. It's easy enough to figure out what you've been up to. Heck, all she needs is to get a middle schooler to track your browsing and give her a report and she has all the goods on you. :D

Remember, girlfriends are a vast network of resources.

Now if she truly has no interest, then you are safe.

Lovingwife,
LMI and Stew-Mac are great, but if you live near a Woodcraft store you might consider a gift certificate from them. Wandering around in one of their stores is always fun.

You are obviously a very kind and thoughtful person. Please PM me if things don't work out. :-)
