So I've been playing around with transtint dyes...I'm starting to get the itch to build an electric or two and want to do some nice stain/burst work. I checked out the MSDS sheet for these things and they do not seem too friendly! Is the amount that one would use to stain one guitar insignificant in terms of VOC's and such? I have run some test parts and like the results (I mixed with water)...and am just wondering in general about any safety precautions you may be taking with this product. Whenever i can, I like to use environmentally and personally friendly products!

Thanks,
Trev

You use literally a few drops of the stuff per coat. A little more for darker direct stains, but that doesn't get aerosolized. it's mostly the solvents that are extra-nasty. I wear nitrile gloves when handling wipe on stains, and respirator when spraying anything.
