I've just been given by my friendly luthier a bottle of water based lacquer, his supplier sent it to him as a sample, it's a bottle labeled Water Based High Solids Self Cross-Linking Lacquer Gloss, Mylands is his supplier, there is no directions on the bottle and the website just says 5% dilution with water max. It's an opaque white liquid that smells faintly like pear drop sweets. I'm guessing it needs spraying using a largish nozzle size. he only touches in repairs and has to sends out full spray jobs due to living in a basement flat and is concerned about neighbours, so has no use for it any ideas guys?

Tips on nozzle size, pressure etc would be gratefully reiceved

I've been spraying KTM-9 using a Devilbiss Finishline 2 HVLP gun, 1.4mm tip, compressor set at 40psi and dropping the pressure a bit more at the gun. I thinned the lacquer a bit with denatured alcohol rather than water on the last one, and was pretty satisfied with the results.

it dries very very very hard.........too hard........i spray it out the bottle through a 1.2mm nozzle and use hvlp it dries mega fast......i may change to this stuff as i hate paying to import from target coatings

Joe there seems a few discrepancies between the product described in your link and the one on Mylands website http://www.mylands.co.uk/products/wood_ ... based_scl/ most notably the coverage thanks for the nozzle and pressure advice guess its just have a go now.
