Hey everyone

It has been some time since I last posted a completed guitar here. I've been so busy with finishing finals at school and securing a job that the shop had to go on the back burner for awhile - along with this well-overdue posting. I completed this guitar over a month ago...it is our eighth guitar total, and it is the first one that I have done myself.

TOP: Engelmann Spruce
BACK/SIDES: Sapele
NECK: Mahogany
BINDING: EIR
FRETBOARD/BRIDGE: Madagascar Ebony
HEADPLATE: Macassar Ebony

The guitar also sports a bridge doctor and a soundport. I have been absolutly blown away by the sound and feel of it, and am planning to repeat the design in the future.

Hi Jake

I load my photos into photobucket and use the Img button to link to them. The account is free and I upload at full resolution, it does not take too long. I also use Webshots but have not tried to use any of these images in a OLF posting.

By the way nice guitar, how does it sound?

Fred

To Mr. Tellier, the guitar sounds FANTASTIC! The mahogany-like sapele's woodieness is greatly complimented by the engelmann top, which I purchased at LMI for about 40.00. It has a warmer, mellower sound, but has good volume as well.

As far as the bridge doctor goes, This guitar doesn't have an adjustable truss rod, it has a heavy oak/steel reinforcement in the neck. We had had some problems in the past with the bridge bellying, but the Bridge doctor is designed to adjust the bridge's height either direction. Plus, the added contact from the bridge straight to the end block helps vibration transfer (good for sound) and I have not had a sub-par sounding instrument since we have installed these. This is the third guitar with this system and I have no plans of doing away with it, it's one of my "quirks" with my guitars.

Nice job Jake. [:Y:] I was about your age when the desire to build hit me. I wish I'd have followed that passion back then instead of converting it into building custom wood furniture. :| But I'm doing it now. :D Keep up the good work!
