I'm about to brace my first guitar top using a 25' radius. I want the upper bout to be flat. Does it matter the order: brace lower bout first or upper bout first? idunno

I prefer to do the arched braces first. Trying to do the flat ones first keeps the top from sitting properly in the dish while you do the arched ones.

I agree. My current sequence is 1. X brace 2.bridge plate 3. lower face braces and finger braces in the radius dish. My radius dish is backed up with a flat 3/4" piece of HD particle board so I just flip it over and do the sound hole braces and top brace flat.

Now I do my tone bars and finger braces first, using the dry-clamped x-braces to locate them, then remove the x-brace. Makes it a lot easier to carve with the x-brace out of the way. After rough-carving, I do the x-brace, then the bridge plate.
