Thank you all kindly for your help with the chocolate cedar tops and yew suppliers.... at the moment, I am trying to source for a set of 'the tree' mahogany. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

wow good luck,

i think allied had some a while back but it will be long gone now i think.
its the type of wood that people wont let go of if they have a set.
I know i would would sit on it if i had some.

Yeah it's probably all gone from Allied now....

I have a couple of sets but I am not sitting on it not wishing to get a splinter in my Billy...... :D but I am hanging onto mine.

Terence,

Unless your client insists on "The Tree" material, you can probably find some sapele that's visually pretty close. Tonally, sapele is very similar to mahogany, so it's a good substitute. I think Don Williams and maybe a couple of other OLF sponsors had a few sets. Maybe they'll chime in.

we have 50 or so sets of it at McPherson... horribly hard to work with, but awesome to behold!

I've got about 10 uke sets of it....

Call Todd at http://www.alliedlutherie.com - I bought my last set from him a month ago. It may have been his very last - sorry. He may not have any more but he may be able to source a set from his many contacts. Seriously, Todd may be the only person who can help - so please don't wait. I have about 5-6 sets and they were mucho $$$$ - so if you find a set, you may want to tell your client that the upcharge is going to be like truly premium Brazilian (an extra $2-3,000+ or more).

The sound of saple is not even close to the tree, and I would only sell a set for $2,500, sorry.
