Post subject:  Question about the challenge

I have been following these great instruments - but I was under the impression that the guitar (uke) had to be completed in 2016. It is obvious that many of these great looking guitars will not be finished by the end of the day. I have one that has a completed box, set neck and just got its frets yesterday. It is local Ash and Walnut.

Is it too late to enter?

May 29 2017 is the date.

Rules are here: viewtopic.php?f=10145&t=47793

Most of us build boxes in winter and paint the finish in warm weather to take advantage of the natural cycles.... We were kicking this thing off right before summer started - and that's more or less a catastrophe for building crack free boxes for me at least.

So... You didn't post any of your build pix here... When did you start this build? Is it more or less a parlor size guitar? Are you going to stay under the price limit?

Thanks

Truckjohn

It's a resonator built in wood to a Duolian plan - Without checking I think it is 13-1/2". It is made of Ash from a friend's farm and Walnut that has been in my shop at least 25 maybe 30 years. I bought a new cone, but an ebay cover and tailpiece. I'll check, but I think it will cost about $170 total. I started in Octber and I will be ready for finish by the end of January.

It is a fun project and I may stick my toe in the waters - thanks

I'm slowly getting back to this site after the holiday rush. I saw the PM and my response was that as long as it fit in the rules/guidelines and was started after the start date that I thought it would be fine. I doubt anyone would have a problem with it but what do I know?

I don't have any money in this game, but I check the builds a couple of times a day for updates, and I'd love to see Ed's build added to the challenge. I really enjoy see the progress on the great work being done!
