I started blocking the body so I can rout for bindings today. I hate blocking the body but you have to push through it I guess. I took Steve's advice and gently eased the inside edge of the sound port purfling. It looks okay, I'm afraid to work on it too much and make it look worse. I'll think o. It for a while. It is hard to tell from the pic but there is indeed a maple line under the jatoba on the inside of the box.Image

I think it will look good when it's under finish - time for binding!

It is time to admit defeat. I haven't worked on this in two months. Between a couple family health issues, some home renovations that are happening and extra projects with the PTA at my daughter's elementary school, I just don't see any shop time in my future. I have struggled to admit this to myself and have even been avoiding reading this sections because, deep down, I knew it would force me to admit that I needed to drop out. I will still facilitate the end of contest voting and all that for those of you who aren't slackers and actually finish on time.

Having said this, I feel a bit liberated and rejuvenated. It looks like there has been a lot of post here during my absence/avoidance; I'm excited to read them!

I've had several times where I couldn't get into the shop for several months. Life happens. When you do get around to working on it don't forget to post your progress so we can see how it turns out.

I will definitely update this if for no other reason than to inform you all if it brought in any money in the raffle.

Glad to hear you are still alive. Sorry to hear you have to drop out - but life does happen.

Keep us posted on the build. Remember - we love watching builds.

When life gets in the way, there isn't much you can do about it, Bryan. Heck, I've been spinning my wheels so long, I'm down to the hub caps!
Looking forward to when you have the time to get to it, again!

Bryan - sorry to hear you have to drop out. Thanks for starting - and finishing - this challenge. We all look forward to seeing /hearing your guitar when it is finished.

I asked a guy at a local guitar shop to do a demo video on this guitar that I can use to stir up some interes in the raffle (I’m going to email the video out to a few divisions at work and try to boost ticket sales). I’ll let you all know how much money we raise. In the mean time, check out the video. You can fast forward to the playing if you want.
