Just pulled a FB from a 2019 Gibby and found something interesting that will undoubtedly be problems down the road. They have some type of RFID tracker under the FB..... see pics.Image

Now the problem is this leaves a huge area under the first 3 frets completely unglued to the neck! About 40% loss of glue surface! Here you can see the area where there was no contact clearly in the glue.

When I was pulling this and got up toward the nut the FB just popped! without any heat!

I suspect we are going to be getting newer Gibbys in with odd buzzes and rattles... Bad harmonic overtones and wolf notes due to this...... So be ready!

Another Gibson innovation. I mean really, do you need glue on the entire fretboard? Little miss won’t hurt.

Should we give Gibson a 10% cut for repairing their intentional misses? I about put my kid through college by repairing their break-away headstocks.

I've worked on Les Pauls that had maybe 25% glue contact between the tenon and mortise..... Had one once that the neck stayed on for a decade until the guy happened to kick it one night during a performance. Went back together easy, and didn't even need a finish touch-up. I used a LOT more glue than Gibson. This wasn't just Nashville stuff - this was Kalamazoo stuff, too.

I would've loved to see that repair. Harkens back to the saying of "only a gibson is unglued enough"

That had to be back in the early 80's when my camera was a Kodak 110.... It was a black L6-S. The guy kicked it on Thursday night, I had it ready for Saturday.... I think Conrad still has it.
