I've tried finding the answer to this on here but haven't had any luck, perhaps I'm using the wrong key words.

What causes the cloudy white spots in old-ish instrument finishes? Is it moisture getting underneath?

What was the pore filler?
If it was epoxy, it can turn a whitish gray due to blushing I believe after many years creating this type of effect. I'm currently refinishing an instrument with this problem. I also want to acknowledge here that many people use epoxy and that there may be some brands that don't blush like this. I commonly here z-poxy works and I,m sure there are others too.

I've seen shellac get kind of cloudy. If you heat it up with a heat gun it'll usually get rid of them. I don't know what kind of guitar inparticular you're asking about but I'm sure we can find a solution for you if we know what type of finish/guitar and such.

My first suspicion is blushing due to moisture. Sometimes it comes out by just hand buffing it with cloth.

It's a Yamaki, with a lot of big cracks in the finish. The finish seems a little too think to be lacquer, and there's really no checking, like what I've seen in more traditional old guitars. I assume it's some sort of poly. My first guess was that moisture got in under the finish through the cracks.
