Here's a sister pair of 'bones from last year. They have very similar red spruce tops, and are braced and "tuned" as closely as I could manage. One has cocobolo b/s, one has Honduran rosewood b/s. They sound... quite 'similar', but not the same. I find it hard to tell what is caused by the materials properties, inconsistencies in construction, or what. The differences are subtle, and interesting to note.

The coco now lives permanently in a professional recording studio, and is used for various types of music, I'm told. The Hondo went to a local bluegrass enthusiast, who will no doubt bring it to numerous gig, festivals and whatnot. It should be interesting to hear them together again in a few years...

Hi, this is my first post into the forums. I am on the Central Coast of NSW Australia and have been building for about 18 months. I'll put up some pics of recent builds. I am on my 10th build at the moment.

Sold my first production guitar this week under the name Bonds Creek Guitars. Nitro finish over a torrified sitka soundboard, madagascar rosewood back, sides , binding, and a mahogany neck. The inlay is bubinga and maple. I am out of Pennsboro, WV.

Three just completed. Carpathian Spruce/Katalox, Sitka Spruce Claro, Sitka Spruce/Hondo Rosewood
Katalox cutaway has square shoulders, Claro and H. Rosewood are more sloped shoulder guys
