We'll I've been putting off on putting up that I'm in. I have been struggling with the deadline but what the heck, if it doesn't get done then no harm. I am a hand tool woodworker that has been doing this for a hobby for about 4 years building small furniture (tables, cabinets, boxes, etc.) This build will be done 99% hand tool only. Maybe a drill press here and there but that's it.

So, I am building an OM style guitar based off of LMI's plans. I received all the wood from LMI on this build as a kit of materials, nothing is serviced by them though. Just thought this would be the easiest way to get everything I needed for a first timer.

Top-Sitka Spruce
Back+Sides- EIR
Fretboard, bridge- Ebony
Bindings- Curly Maple

I have the materials for an ebony headplate veneer but am undecided on what I will actually use. I have some nice woods in my shop to choose from. I also have a herringbone style rosette but prefer a wood rosette of some sort. I will eventually work all that out along the way. My goal is to get a working guitar out of my first try so details will be somewhat minimal. Pics will be soon to follow when I get a min. Started the neck last night which is mahogany.

So I have pictures on flickr now and still can't figure out how to load them up here. What do I need to do? Can I just load them through my computer? Any other forum I've posted pics on I was able to get them from my computer to the thread without issue. What am I missing?

Just testing this out. This is a pic of my back, East Indian Rosewood from LMI.

Well the picture doesn't show up on the thread but here's the link. I have a few more to post but would like to figure the picture thing out first.

So I still am not understanding the posting pics so I will just post pics through my flickr account.

So far my build has been slow as Im still trying to understand the process. But I have the neck scarfed and glued up and laid out for my neck tenon. I am waiting on an order from lee valley for a 10mm brad point bit in order to drill out the neck tenon for my barrel nuts. Did not expect that a 1/4x20 barrel bolt would require a metric drill bit. I would like to drill the holes before cutting the tenon so now my neck sits.

I drew a fast pattern for my headstock, still slightly undecided on what I want to do there.

My concern at the moment is the ebony fingerboard. I was getting my wood out to take pictures and noticed my fingerboard has a pretty healthy bow in it. Def too much to plane out. Can I just count on the gluing down on a flat neck to straighten this out? It may be difficult to work with as far as slotting for frets and radiusing with this bow. My soundboard plates are a bit bowed as well, assuming the bracing should help form these to the proper shape though. But again this may cause issues while working on the rosette. How does everyone else deal with bowed wood?

Nice - I enjoy watching the hand-tools only builds.
