Post subject:  Miguel´s shameful 3rd attempt at ruining otherwise fine wood
OK, here´s the deal so far:

A grade Carpathian spruce top from John@OldWorldTonewood (16$)
Bracewood - stuff i have lying around (AKA free)
A grade EIRW backs and sides from Maderas Barber ($35) - will hopefully provide bindings and headplate
Honduras cedar (from the lumberyard) neck (around $3)
Madagascar RW bridge (1$)
Still deciding on fingerboard, probably Gaboon ebony (14$), and rosette and the like.

I already started the hostilities by cutting my index finger while sharpening - way to go ! laughing6-hehe

Hostilities....hilarious! Looks like the tools took round one. Now you need to get back in there and show them who's boss!

Yeah, I long for those things called fingernails that make playing somewhat easier. But then, I can hardly play anyway, so what's the problem?

So, tell us more about which Torres vein you are mining. A bigger one? A little teeny one?

Thanks for the interest guys. Unfortunately, things haven´t been running smoothly around here, including a tornado that threw a tree into my car (!!!!) and my kids getting mumps (i think that´s the name) wich has kind of shrinked my spare time. Work has been little and sporadic, but i´m trying to get things going in the next month (knock on wood!)

a generic one, i´m affraid (meaning 7 fans in a closed kite arrangement, parallel transverse braces, no bridge patch and the like) - but it´s not gonna be one of the smaller ones: 360mm across the lower bout and 480mm body length. when i was starting (which i still am after more than two years into starting my 1st... duh ) i was arrogant enough to design "my own" plantilla/template (it ended up a lousy mix of Santos and Torres, with a little Romanillos thrown in) and i guess that´s what i´ll use for this build.

Mumps. I sort of remember the Mumps - but no not really. I know I had them, and our kids now generally don't as they are vaccinated against them. A distant memory. (I just turned 60 two months ago, and too many things are becoming distant memories.)

I didn't realize that Portugal had tornados. We get them all over the eastern U.S. - big ones that make the news, and little ones that don't just because they aren't big. A colleague at work had his mini-van cut in half by a falling tree during a little tornado episode here - luckily while it was parked and no one was there.

At any rate, here's cheering you onwards with your guitar. Good luck!

Thanks, that´s appreciated. That´s the irony of it, there are no tornados here (they are really, really rare) and the prevalence of mumps is one case in a million/year (really, i´ve double-checked) and they are vaccinated - i guess i´m in a lucky spree.
