Incorrect Alex!! Its government accounting that causes problems. If I were an IRS employee, I would have charged myself $18.00 for the $9.00 rosette blank.

"Incorrect Alex!!" Are you my wife or something?? My mistake. I should have said voodoo economics, not voodoo accounting, but forget that because I'm probably @#&*ing wrong, anyways!!!

If my experience with government accountants holds true, the only real measure of the cost of Tony' burl would be based on how much it cost last year.

New top:

I like it. But since things were going so well, I decided to slow myself down again and when I went to inspect my second coat of pore filler, I realized some of it had gotten into the neck bolt hole and epoxied my holding stick into the box. Now I am attempting to drill it out. [headinwall]

Don't feel bad, Tony. The first uke I made, I attempted to build in a K&K pickup. Did my epoxy porefill, and when I finished the uke went to adjust the pickup and it was totally epoxied in. I had to cut the shaft off. Tried welding a new plug in to the electronics and never could get it to work. It's a $75 strap button (on an instrument that usually doesn't need a strap button). You pulled off a nice save, Tony. I think the new top looks better, and I really like the rosette. Try drilling the stick out with a slightly smaller drill bit, and then work the remainder out with a round file. [:Y:]

I put the wash coat of z-poxy on tonight. When it is fully cured I can start lacquering. I will be using rattle cans. The neck is already painted with lacquer from a gallon can. I picked up a can of Deft on the way home last week. Since my company decided to close tomorrow in anticipation of the apocalypse, I should have time to spray a couple of coats. For your viewing pleasure, I present this picture of the back all z-poxied up.

Your phonetic spelling was better than mine but the pronunciation is about the same.
Got some lacquer on the box. Looks good. Pics maybe later.

Take care Tony during the storm. Your new top looks great. I hope all your wood stash don't float away in the storm. I'll be thinking of you and your family tomarrow. Jason

Thanks Jason. It's windy but not too rainy right now. Might spray some more lacquer in a bit. The hardest part is going to be keeping my kids entertained for 2-3 days without leaving the house!!

Just let them play hide-and-go-seek in your mustache.

Good thinking Bryan!
Despite the foul weather, I took the opportunity to lay some coats of lacquer on the ukulele. A couple last night and a few today. It is starting to look pretty good!

If I can shoot a few more today, I should be able to start wet sanding by next week. I leveled and polished the frets already so all that would be left is to locate the bridge and glue it one before this puppy is playable.

He is calling back to a suggestion he made on page 12. At the time, you and your bald friend seemed pretty receptive to the idea.

The uke is looking great. But if it doesn't make it to page 25, I'm not voting for it. If a build doesn't take 25 pages to document, it's just not quality.
