Post subject:  Setting up for Voting .

Lance has provided us a Poll ability to vote for the Challange . Each contestant has a number by his name and that will be his vote number when the time comes.

What I waould like to do is break this into 2 or three catagories , ( 1 ) Guitars ( 2 ) Mandolin ( 3 ) Octive mandolin / Harp guitar / uke

Thus each voter can vote in all 3 the first time , the top 2 or 3 from each catagory will be then in a final vote for winner .

This is just an IDEA , suggestions are welcome please .

What I WILL NEED is a list of name and what u are actually building to make the catagories up and hopefully they will be close to same number of contestants in each " may need to define catagories diffrent "

Point is . PLEASE comment as to what you are building so I can set up the catagories to get this ready . THANKS

It would be nice if the first post in the poll thread contained the finished pics and soundclips for each entry.

John A - classical guitar cherry and cedar with walnut neck. I am current stuck on binding and purfling - I hope to finish on time, and then remember how to play Sor.

Would it be a good idea to break it up into nylon string guitars vs steel string ?

Sounds like a good structure to me. Do you have a full list of who's working on what (i.e. number in each category)? IMO, they should be as even as possible, which some of our less standard instruments should help with (Todd's octave mando could go in with other mandolins if the misc group gets too large, Alan's weiss could go in misc if the guitar group gets too large... I'm pretty sure my harp uke is in with the freaks of nature though)

And are contestants banned from voting, or should we all just vote for ourselves when possible, and our favorites in the other categories?

Excellent that means you and me both get one vote ! My time spent since the beginning of Feb is not all going to waste - at least one person will like my instrument :)
