Hi all, I kicked off my 5th build in late spring. It's going to be an EIR/WRC OM. I made some good progress this week getting the sides assembly put together and inlaying a rosette using rosewood scrap and zipflex. I've added the lining to the other side and have to "drive the bus" just a little more before I turn my attention to the cedar top but I'm really proud how the rosette turned out. I'm currently cutting the brace stock. I have most of the materials and hope to make better progress with this one and work faster and more efficiently than I have in previous builds. |

The top is just about braced up: 5/16" sitka with the tone bars inlet into the X brace and an osage orange bridge plate. Years ago when I asked Tim McKnight for advice on my first build he shared with me how Somogyi doesn't taper the No. 1 brace into the sides so I'm doing it again here. I also did it on my fourth. |
