Great looking build. A lot of people underestimate sapele because it's fairly inexpensive, but it can make a really good guitar.

Thanks for taking my comment constructively, Mike. That doesn't happen much anymore.

Thank you.
I am not stupid. I know there are really good builders on here who will find things like that. Its the reason i'm here. You can't learn if you can;t take people's advice, and I really do appreciate it.
I have not got around to measuring yet; haven't had the time to get back to the build. But I will most likely order a slotted board from LMII and redo, if I can afford it. Right now my vehicle is down and it will take the money at this point. :P

Thanks for sharing, enjoying it quite a bit. Curious about the gramil rather than a router. What did you use for the rosette and soundhole?

Thanks.
Work has pretty much stopped on this. I was hoping to get it done this year, but home repairs before winter will stop it. I might be able to do a bit more work, particularly the neck, but finish will have to wait for next Spring.
As for why grammil instead of router, I prefer to use hand tools as much as possible. I do hand tool woodworking as a hobby, so it just came natural to do as much by hand as possible on acoustic building. For the sound hole and rosette, I built a very ugly circle cutter/grammil, and cut the rosette channel by hand with a chisel.
Thanks for replying and looking at my thread.

I realize this is a year-plus stale, and I'm curious if the project got resumed. Fascinating story so far.

My apologies. Life got in the way.
I also build outside, and weather stopped me (again). Spring is very close, so I should be a be to start back up on it then.
Thanks for being interested in this old thread. It is not dead, just dormant for a bit.

I apologize that I did not complete this thread with the rest of the process in pictures. This year I have been swamped with a ton of repairs to our home that have long needed attention, but financially could not be afforded until this year. And since I have been building this guitar for over three years, I thought the better part would be to knuckle under when I got the chance, and complete this build.
So here is the guitar, with me playing it.
The link below is to my build channel, on which the guitar build was documented in full. If you would like to check that out, please do.
I made a crap ton of mistakes, many of which are visible on the guitar under close inspection; it looks a lot better on video than in person.
But I am happy with sound and playability for a first acoustic build.
The video below is over 20 minutes long, so I don't expect you to watch it all, but if you are interested in what the guitar sounds like, you can hear it below. I can't get the video to embed, but here is the link.
