Wanted to build a winder back in the 80's but never followed up.

It's called a press fit, Chris. Next time put the bearing in the oven and heat it to about 200 or so, and put the shaft in the freezer. Then pull them both out after an hour and put them together. When they achieve room temp, they should be tight!
