Stewmac has a set of gauged nut slotting files for ukulele, on sale for $42.52. Are these worth the money? There is only 3 files.

Thanks

Do you need those three files? If so it may be worth buying. I use my guitar files.

It also depends on your situation as John said. If you're only cutting a few nuts slots ever perhaps not.

If you're a commercial business repairing guitars, ukes and the like absolutely. I use gauged nut slot files and have every gauge out there and I am replacing files from wearing them out every year or so.

I use a set of welding torch cleaners. I start using a hacksaw blade 0.018" to locate the string and use a torch cleaner about five thou greater than the string diameter toset the action. The torch cleaners are round files of various diameters from twenty five thou to fifty five thou.
you can find them at Harbor Freight.
