Post subject:  uke fingerboard dot spacing

Just finishing first uke. I seem to see dot spacing on guitars at 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 15, but ukes at 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 15. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you're building it for yourself do whatever you want. If it's for sale then it's 3,5,7,10,12 and 15.

Pretty common to skip the 3rd.

My standard is 5, 7, 10, 12 but will do others at no extra charge.

By the way, does this difference in dot locations between ukes and guitars have anything to do with the different standard tuning?

In the early decades of the lsat century, guitar dots could be either on the 9th or the 10th. Perhaps it got standardized at that time
