| Post subject: | Bridge position on a Gibson scale |
I'm getting ready to set a Gibson style bridge at 24.74 scale length. Do you like to install the centerline of scale adjustments with an added compensation or just sent the bridge saddles at center assuming there is adjustability both ways on saddle adjustment? |

You will never have "negative compensation", why waste saddle travel that you will never use. I use StewMac's calculator and it has never failed to provide adequate adjustment. Attachment: IMG_2038.JPG

I forgot about the Stew Mac fret scale. Thanks for the reminder. What offset have you used on the offset for legs of post? |

If your scale truely is 24.74 (there are several Gibson scales) the SM calculator says 24.811" (± 0.030") from nut to center of treble-side post. Mount bass-side post 1/16"-1/8" further from the nut. That would work for me. I would also check to make sure the high E saddle at its farther forward position is at or slightly beyond the scale location. You could also use R.M. Mottola's incredible calculator do dial it in perfectly for whatever strings you plan to use https://www.liutaiomottola.com/formulae ... sation.htm |
