Hi Guys,

I have been concentrating on building acoustic guitars, but I have always wanted a '59 Gretsch 6120. Has anyone built one before? or know of any plans, templates, pointers, etc?

Thanks!

Glenn

I just finished a 17 inch hollow body (look down the list of posts to "Jazzy Blond". It is basically a 4 inch deep 17 inch jumbo, laminated spruce top and laminated maple b/s. While similar to the Gretsch, it is not a direct copy, but I do have the tracing of the ribs and quite a few pictures of the insides. I do have plans for an ES-175 which I used for some of the bracing and other tidbits. Let me know if any of this would help.

Never built one before, but I've had em apart. FWIW, the neck joint is not a dovetail. It's a mortise and tenon. Not sure where you can find a plan for one, but you could trace the body contours on an existing one, and take measurements for the neck, elevated fingerboard extension, etc.

Definitely a worthwhile project. Good luck, and post pics!
